Express Scripts

This is the second time I have had to deal with Express Scripts Home Delivery and of course there was an issue this time too (before I was forced to use them by my dad's insurance I went years with no issues at my pharmacy.) The first time, several months ago, the prescription wasn't written to the way they wanted and so I didn't get a full 90 day supply of medicine. I was told they follow the doctor's words "exactly as written." I asked them back then what the new prescription had to say to get the full 90 day supply and they told me. I drove an hour to the doctor's office and got the new prescription with everything written exactly as Express Scripts said they needed (even have everything spelt out in numbers and words.) I got the new medicine today and it was short again. I called Express Scripts and spoke to so many people (pharmacy techs, pharmacists and different levels of supervisors) and now they all claim they don't follow the doctor's words verbatim, but interpret the meaning with their own math formula. The level 2 supervisor wouldn't even read what the prescription said verbatim on the Express Scripts system (clearly she knew she was in the wrong) and after a bunch of fighting I got the answer from their pharmacist that they didn't follow the doctor's words as written and used their own system (to save money for them, but not help the patient.) My dad works in Iraq for months at a time and can't get or send mail so I can't simply mail his medicine to him. The way Express Scripts has flipped-flopped on their own practices is appalling. Everyone there that I spoke with was in the "right" even when they contradicted themselves. It is just another disgusting way that the health care system is failing the patients. I would rather go back and use the local pharmacies and get the exact amount of medicine the doctor ordered than having people dictate to me by phone or mail what they believe the doctor meant - even though they didn't go to school for as long as the specialist did and I trust him over them since he wants to only help and they only want to save money.
