From Euro Maiden’s Facebook:
Good morning World! Good morning
Ukraine!
Today is Velyka Subota (Great
Saturday) in Ukraine, the third day of reflection and prayer in the Ukrainian
Easter cycle.
The traditional taboos on
merrymaking and eating meat are carried over from the previous days. However,
there is joy and expectation in the air as streets fill with the faithful
carrying beautiful Easter baskets of all shapes and sizes to be blessed at the
nearest church.
The traditional Ukrainian Easter
morning breakfast of hard-boiled eggs, various meats, sausages and ham, butter,
paska, salt, horseradish, and cheese will be enjoyed the next day, at Easter
breakfast.
