False Missile

From Yahoo:
" Ballistic Missile Emergency Alert Mistakenly Sent To People In Hawaii"

People in Hawaii received media alerts Saturday morning warning of an approaching missile and instructing people to seek shelter, but authorities quickly declared the messages were sent in error “BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND TO HAWAII,” a mobile push notification read. “SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.” Shortly after, the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency and Honolulu Department of Emergency Management informed Twitter followers there was no missile threat to Hawaii.   Honolulu mayor Kirk Caldwell and congresspeople from the state, including Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D) and Sens. Brian Schatz (D) and Mazie Hirono (D), all said the message was a “false alarm.”  A correction was sent to mobile phones around 30 minutes after the initial alert was sent. “There is no missile threat or danger to the State of Hawaii. False Alarm,” it read. Authorities are reportedly investigating how the mistake was made. A request for comment from Hawaii EMA was not immediately returned. In the remote town of Haleiwa, more than 30 miles from Pearl Harbor, residents were confused and afraid when they received the alert. Some residents pulled over in their cars to alert pedestrians to take cover.

^ Guess the Hawaiians should focus more on getting lei-ed and hanging-10 dude and leave the missile alerts to those that can actually read a radar screen. Hawaii seems to be overly-paranoid while Guam (which was also declared a target by North Korea and is closer to Pyongyang than Hawaii is) continues with business as usual. I guess Hawaii didn't learn from what happened (or I should say didn't happen) during the Cold War (1945-1991.)  ^
