Gov't Shutdown!

The Senate Democrats have allowed the Federal Government to shut-down. Their main reason was to “protect” illegal immigrants who came into the United States without the correct visa or documentation or over-stayed their stay. A synonym to illegal is: criminal. I don’t know about you, but whenever I live or visit another country I always do so with the correct documentation and follow all the rules once I have arrived and leave before my documents expire.

It’s not always easy. When I lived in Russia (two times) I had to jump through lots of hoops just to get the visa (have a native Russian sponsor file an application to the Russian Government inviting me to come to Russia – basically saying I wouldn’t be a financial or criminal risk.) Then the Russian Government did all their background checks and eventually mailed me an official Invitation (it had to be the original and not a copy.) Then I took that Invitation along with my Passport (the original) and my application to the Russian Embassy in person (not by mail.) Then The Russian Embassy would issue me a visa telling me when I could enter the country. Once I arrived in Russia the Immigration Officer would stamp my visa and migration card. Then my Russian sponsor (I wasn’t allowed to go) would have to take my passport and migration card to their local Immigration Office and register me – getting a stamp with my Russian address. After that whenever I was away from my “home” city I would have to register my passport and migration card within 3 days or face arrest and deportation. Any public official in Russia can force you to show them your passport and registration on the spot and can hold you for hours without cause if things don’t add up. Upon leaving Russia the Immigration Officer would check all my registration stamps and keep my migration card and I would leave. Why do I say all of this? Because the US Immigration System isn’t as complex as Russia’s. I have helped many foreign friends get Tourist, Business and Immigration visas as well as Green Cards. I have dealt with our system and so cannot understand why there is any sympathy for anyone who enters the US illegally.

The Senate Democrats and those that support them on illegal immigrants have shown their true colors. They have chosen to support illegal criminals rather than American citizens. They have turned their backs on millions upon millions of hardworking, innocent Americans who either continue to work, but won’t get paid or are sent home and won’t get paid until the Shutdown ends. I was always taught that you are supposed to obey the laws and that if you help someone who breaks them then you are just as guilty as the person who physically committed the crime. Illegal immigrants became criminals when they entered the US or when they over-stayed their visa. The Senate Democrats became criminals when they decided to support the illegals over American citizens and allowed the Government to Shutdown. Because of them the men and women who serve in the US Military will still have to protect us at home and overseas they just won’t get paid for it – and being a military brat myself I know many live paycheck to paycheck. Because of them when a veteran dies during the Shutdown they cannot be buried in a National Cemetery and their families won’t receive the Death Benefit to help bury them. These are the real victims of the Senate Democrats allowing the Government Shutdown. It isn’t the illegal immigrants, but the American people (Government workers and Soldiers) who now have to suffer and fight to feed their children and pay their bills.
