I am back from my trip to Europe.
I will write about it in 4 parts
(Traveling to Europe, in Catalonia, in Germany and Coming Home.)
Coming Home
After 18 days of travelling it
was finally time to come home.
My Brother and his Wife drove me
from their home to the Train Station where I took the Train to Frankfurt
Airport.
Frankfurt Airport
I had to take the Airport Train from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 and wait until my Icelandair check-in opened.
After I checked in I went through
German Airport Security and had no issues or problems there.
I waited in the Airline Lounge
for my flight and then went to the Gate.
We had to get on a Bus at the
Gate and drive to the plane (I haven’t had to do that in years) and then wait
on the bus for 45 minutes with no explanation.
It was only after we saw a Woman
get off the plane and we were allowed to board that we were told the Woman was
from the previous flight and didn’t want to de-plane for some reason. Because
of her my 1 hour and 5 minute connection in Iceland turned out to be 9 minutes.
The flight from Frankfurt to Reykjavik
was problem-free (etc. they served fish with both meal choices and I don’t eat
fish.)
In Iceland
As I previously said my 1 hour
and 5 minute connection time in Iceland turned into a 9 minute connection.
I went through Icelandic
Immigration in 3 minutes (the Officer was very nice and efficient) and ran to
my flight to Boston as it was Closing.
I boarded the plane and relaxed.
Icelandair
I took Icelandair in 2013 when I
went to Iceland with my Parents and my Sister and took it again from Germany to
the US via Iceland.
The plane was nice, the service
was good, but I wish they didn’t serve fish with every meal option. They should
have one meal with fish and one meal without for those of us that don’t eat fish.
Boston Logan
We landed in Boston and it took
me only 2 minutes to go through US Immigration.
The Immigration Officer was very
nice and quick.
It was odd to not have to fill
out a Customs Form or go to a Kiosk though.
I then had to wait 20 minutes
from the first bag to come on the baggage carousel, but once they did my bag
was the 3rd one off.
I wasn’t stopped at US Customs
and so just went to find my Bus Stop.
I had to wait outside for an hour
(in the cold and wind) for the Bus, but once it arrived I could warm up.
My Sister met me at the Bus
Station, took me to get something to eat (that wasn’t fish) and then we went
home.
The smile on my dog’s face at
seeing me was almost as wide as mine one was for.
Trip Conclusion
I had an amazing time throughout
my whole trip.
While it was tiring to fit so
much in such a short period of time I got to meet 42 Relatives and 4 Friends.
I got to go to Christmas Markets
and to eat my favorite treats.
I am so thrilled that I was able
to go on this trip.
