Donbas Peacekeepers

From UNIAN:
" Ukraine’s Ambassador to UN to seek deployment of peacekeepers in Donbas"

Having assumed the duties of a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council from January 1, 2016, Ukraine will seek possible deployment of a peacekeeping mission in Donbas, the country’s newly appointed Permanent Representative to the UN, Volodymyr Yelchenko, has said in an interview with the Apostrophe online newspaper.   "We have a definite plan of action, and we know what we will do firsthand. In any way, it will be related to the situation in Donbas; namely, in the context of the possible deployment of a peacekeeping mission in the east of Ukraine. As you, know Russia has blocked the initiative so far. But we will try to find ways to resolve this issue," he said.
Yelchenko noted that the negotiation process on this issue has not yet begun within the UN. "As the UN practice shows, it takes months from the beginning of the negotiations to the deployment of the mission. So this will be a long process. First we need to at least start the negotiation process on this issue within the UN framework," said the permanent representative of Ukraine to the United Nations.
Also, the diplomat mentioned that, besides Russia, there are other states that show no support for such initiative. "I will not name specific countries. I can only say that we are talking about some UN Security Council members, including those that are major contributors to the budget of the organization. Their position is due to the fact that a possible peacekeeping mission to Ukraine will be very costly to the UN budget," said Yelchenko. Earlier, the newly appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Nations said that at least 25,000 troops is necessary for the deployment of the UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas

^ It makes sense to send UN peacekeepers to the Ukraine to really make sure the ethnic Russians are abiding by the Minsk Agreement. I am sure Russia will veto any peacekeepers for the Ukraine because then the international world will have concrete proof that Russia has been supplying weapons and men to fight in eastern Ukraine. It would be nice to see this happen though as the killing would actually stop. ^
