Not All Together
You constantly hear every
politician, celebrity, commercial, organization, company, person, etc. say
"We're all in this together." While it's a catchy statement it
doesn't hold to the facts. If we are all in this together then why do we:
- Have abandoned elderly sick and
dying alone in nursing homes and in their own homes?
- Have abandoned disabled sick
and dying alone in group homes and in their own homes?
- Have banks, credit unions,
companies, etc. say they will "work with those who have lost their
jobs" and in practice continue on with business as usual?
- Have schools only teaching
those students with high-speed Internet at their home while ignoring those
students who do not?
- Have hours-long waits at food
banks across the country with many people turned away with no food while others
complain about the lack of toilet paper while they shop in grocery stores?
- Have Federal, State and Local
Governments that refuse to comply with Federal law (the ADA) and have ASL
interpreters every time they make an official announcement?
- Have big corporations taking
Federal money that is supposed to go to small businesses while the small
businesses go bankrupt?
Doesn't seem like everyone is in
the same boat as everyone else.
