I went to vote this morning with my mom. We went to our old town hall and there was the same two old women as before. They asked our name and I told them and then they asked for our ID. This is the first time that the people in my state have had to show ID. (I have said it before, but I think it is a great idea. The state will even give everyone without a picture ID a free ID card that can only be used for voting. I don't see how anyone can complain about having to get and show the picture ID since it's free.) I showed them our IDs and then the 2nd old women said a name and asked me if that was me. It was my dad's name. My dad is in Afghanistan and voted absentee already, but even if he was with me the fact that I showed my ID says both my name and address - the same woman also asked my address. The whole point of showing a picture ID is to prove your name, address and picture with the person. This woman is pretty dumb and shouldn't be working at a polling station. After I got our ballots, we went behind a curtain and voted. I still find it funny that one guy has his name in every political party slot for the same job - sheriff. I wonder if he will win. Then we had to give our names to two other women and then put the ballots in a box. It was the same as every other time I voted (except for the ID) even having issues with the old women. Luckily we only vote twice a year (in March and November.) I did my civic duty and only hope that other Americans are smart and chose a real change.
