"Forever family: Veteran adopts teen with spastic cerebral palsy"
One man has dramatically changed the lives of two teens. Michael Trova is a veteran and single dad. A year ago, he adopted 19-year-old Nathan after fostering him since 2011. Nathan has spastic cerebral palsy and has been in and out of the hospital undergoing multiple surgeries for several months. Michael is also a father to 19-year-old Nick, who requires a wheelchair as well. “At the end of the day, it’s about making sure they can live and experience things that they may not have experienced before," Michael says. The veteran says that the minute he met Nathan, he knew they were meant to be a family. He hopes to teach his sons the importance of strength, resilience and determination. “Don’t take anything too serious," he advises. "The sun will come up tomorrow, and if it doesn’t, it will come up the next day."
^ This is just one of those stories that makes you feel good about people. I don't know many people who would do such a great thing. I would like to think I would if put in the same situation, but can't be 100% sure I would. I hope this family serves as an example for others. ^
